3/31/2009 Error while running Windows Live WriterI was stuck for several days trying to figure why Live Writer is not starting. It will just return some annoying and cryptic error messages. I have used the same installer from the office and its working fine from there. Searched the internet for several hours trying to look if someone has the same issue but failed. It took me days to figure out that its the .net framework 2 that was installed was incompatible with Live Writer. Unfortunately, I can’t uninstall it, which leads to manually removing .net framework 2 from the registry. Restarted my PC and tested if Writer runs, and it worked. Now, Live Writer will be my official blogging tool both home and at the office.
Just recently, i have joined Last.fm and got addicted with it. Although, i already have lots of mp3 albums ripped into my hard but still i can’t get enough of it without playing them online. It sounds stupid but i know some of you are doing the same. Here’s my last.fm profile, add me if you’d like. With last.fm i was able to play some of the artist i could not find anymore in the stores plus it keeps track of the songs and artist i have played and displays them graphically. 3/27/2009 Getting InsomniaIts my second time waking up at 2am in the morning. Last time my neighbors arrived and talked about DotA. Last night one woke up and played guitar loudly, i was thinking, was he deaf or he’s having insomnia. After that i can’t sleep anymore, laying on my bed for several hours until the morning comes. In the morning i took 2 teaspoons of coffee hoping not to feel sleepy at work, but i guess it wasn’t enough. I also played in some fast music in the morning to remove my anger and dismay for not sleeping well. So nice to hear Cranberries' wake up and smell the coffee, I can’t seem to stop humming it on my way to the office. “wake up, wake up, shut up, shut up. This time smell the coffee, the coffee.” Anyway, its been long since i blogged here, already travelled so many times. Too bad I was not able to update this blog. My was travel took 8 hours on the road. My mp3 player ran out of juice, and my butt sores like hell. Apparently there was a major road renovation via Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon and it took some time for the bus to move.
Last week we went to Kaputian, Samal Island for some overnight adventure. I didn’t like the water because the current is pulling you towards the deep. Its so step that five meters from the sand is also its 5 meters deep. While on the beach, we played music from Jazon Mraz,, Green Day, SoaD, and many other song i did not recognized. Our music was so loud it made our neighbors music sound like a cell phone. 2/17/2009 Rough day at workI am very busy both at work and at home. I don't have time to even sleep, i mean 4 hours of sleep is not enough. Jason Mraz's Sleep All Day will be so good to hear right now. My War in Conflict game will have to wait until I’m free from this pile of projects. Anyway my video card is still not working and each time Im playing a game of having an application that uses 3d, my Geforce 7300GT stops responding causing my PC to hang. The only fix is to buy a new one which costs at about $50. Did not know such a defective graphics card will cost me so much trouble. Now, I’m working on integrating Paypal to a website and its fun. Right now internet connection is still a problem to me, so here i am now stuck at downloading copies of sites for reference. I found this free application in downloading sites WinHTTrack. I find Teleport Pro dumb when it comes to websites having query string on the urls. I may be switching to this application, not to mention that its free. 2/12/2009 Skype with multiple instances I'm going to save this tip here so i can come back to this post. Having to run skype in multiple instances in very easy. I've search the internet about this and i find their solutions a bit complex. Here's a much easier way to run multiple instances of skype. you should be an administrator on your computer, to be able to create another user account. 1) on your desktop, create a shortcut 2) navigate to your skype folder and find skype.exe 3) save the shortcut 4) open the shortcut context menu by right clicking on it. 5) click the advanced button on the shortcut tab 6) place a check on the run different credentials checkbox 7) click ok on all the dialog boxes 8) create a another windows account, other than the one you are using now. 9) double click on the new skype shortcut you have created 10) use your other windows credetial to login 11) then use your other skype acount to login 12) repeat the process for your other, other skype account 2/9/2009 Listening music while coding Coding and listening is more logical compared to watching dvd while coding. i have already tried it and its impossible to code and at the same time watch dvd movies. You will not be able to concentrate on the movie if you can see your code on the other screen. What i usually do is to turn off the other monitor and watch the movie until the end. Even though i got 2 monitors, i still cant help peeking at my code. As for the music, i like to listen to house and techno beats while coding. I find them nice to hear and give me energy to see through lines of codes and pinpoint bugs. unfurtunately, i dont have them installed on my mp3 player, its just 4GB and i already saved the space for audiobooks. 2/5/2009 There's Thomas There's Thomas. Feeling happy now that his batteries were fixed. I bought this as a Christmas gift to my Son last December. When pushed, this toy sounds like the real Thomas engine and it also gives that brake sound whenever you stop pushing. There's an alternate intro music, the Thomas theme song which you can easily switch back and fort from that choo choo sound. Thomas will be staying with me until I'll travel back to Cagayan de Oro by February 14.  Aside from Thomas, I also have Naruto above him guarding my DVD collection. I don't much time to watch them now since they only play with my PC and surprisingly there's no sound whenever i tried to watch them at the DVD player. Pirated DVD's works just fine but my collections won't, i really wonder. You can also see Seifer Almasy waving his gunblade. Now i remember, i didn't even finished playing the FF8. Last time i checked, i was at disk 2. Others at the back were Laguna Loire and Irvine Kinneas. 2/4/2009 Fun with Thomas Looks like Thomas the tank engine is working just fine. Just replaced the batteries with new ones and it worked, i really thought that something was broken inside because i can hear some things detached from the inside when i tried to shake it. At the store, i have learned that the batteries GPA76 costs more than the price of the toy itself! So i just settled for the replacement LR44, still very expensive but bought it anyway. I was in a hurry going for an appointment and I'm getting late. My son is going to be happy with his toy working again. I also bought a cable for the Epson T10 printer yesterday and a power cord. unfortunately i didnt know what kind of cord to buy so i just settled to the most flexible type available and it turns out to be the correct match. The printer worked just fine except that i forgot to bring the driver. Now, i'm downloading it at the Epson website. Trying out Joomla locally on my PC, i might be doing some good stuff with it and would probably use it as a guide for my future projects. I would try to use it at the office for our departments website. I all goes well then, i will probably use it to deploy to other sites we manage. 2/3/2009 Back to Davao with pride and too many cargo Exhausted from my travel last night. Arrived at Davao on 4am at dawn with bus still very sleepy and tired. Didn't bother on the other passengers and went straight home with my baggage. I brought with me another monitor for extra productivity and a printer. unfortunately, there was no more space left for the extra monitor and the printer has no power cord and USB cord. I will just buy some on my home, whats important is i will be able to use it to compile things i wanted to print important documents. Now i have two monitors namely: AOC 193FW and LG L1750S LCD monitor plus the Epson T10 printer. Now, i will be able to see the output of my scripts without switching windows. I also need to buy the replacement for my son's train toy which ran out of batteries. the battery says GPA76, i don't know what that means, i guess i'm going to bring a sample to the store. From Google, its 1.5v and could LR44 as replacement, i wish i can see both of them at the store. 1/30/2009 Cagayan de Oro here I comeA couple of hours from now and I'm off going to Cagayan de Oro. Packed my things last night and brought them in the office. updated my mp3 player ready for my 6 hour bus ride. Added the album from Greenday, Bullet in bible ripped from the DVD. Also brought with me the tracks from Jason Mraz's Live from Schubas and a couple of Audio books. ill be travelling by night so i won't be able to see the views except when your near Cagayan de Oro. Try to peek at the window from the hilltop up Puerto to see a nice view overlooking the City of Cagayan de oro, I never miss doing that. I must admit, having to travel 6 hours is so tiresome. I still have lots of tasks to do and a website to build. Hoping I will be able to meet the deadline. 1/27/2009 Still travelling with music After several months, I have decided to come back to spaces. Added a couple of family photo and configured my profile. I wanted to change that CID thing on my profile URL, they should replace them. Its very hard to remember. Whats with spaces that has convinced me to come back? Its SkyDrive. The skydrive has a whooping 25GB of disk space, more than enough for me. Plus I can also store non-images files, Picasa has about 10GB and flickr has around 200 images. My accounts expired so I'm looking for a cost efficient way to store my pictures. I hope Microsoft won't change this feature. Anyway, I'm off to Cagayan de Oro City this Friday and as usual my mp3 player will be with me on my 6 hour bus ride. I especially like my Philips extra bass headset, I prefer to use it than my players builtin headset. If only I could afford a much smaller version with the same output and it would be great. Started charging my player last night, its actually a phone, I don't use it anymore because its pretty heavy compared to my current phone right now. When i bought it about 7 years ago it looked cool, but now pretty much useless except when I travel. I wish i had the money to upgrade it to a new player, a 160 iPod perhaps. |
